Anyone know how to change color of dash board?
I'm pretty sure that I've seen a dye or spray that is available in various colors. I'm sure its suitable for vinyl. Any info on this please reply or e-mail me ASAP. I'm thinking of a trick interior and I need to get rid of my brown dash (man why did Nissan choose brown?!?!?!).
FYI I have a 96 Maxima (dark green, w/ tan leather interior, and the silly a$$ brown dash.

I have the Same Ugly Dash
I tried the spray at Pep Boys but it was terrible. I know JC Whitney has a spray dye for vinyl as well as many other surfaces available, JCWhitney.com, but I haven't tried it.
I also saw some vinyl sheets like the kind that they cover subwoofer boxes in instead of carpet but i think it would require seems. I am gonna look into that area more.
I'll most def let you know if I find something that works, please do the same.
Also I have the cloth interior and I am looking into fabric dyes to experiment with until the leatherseats.com deal is in the budget. Let me know if you have any info on that.
Thanks.

you can do a couple of things
first and the thing that i recomend is that you get you dash vinyl rapped, you can get any color you want, or you can spray paint it, but you need specialspray paint, the best one that i have used is sem. its the best but once in a while you get chips. those are you options but if you have the $$$ go for the vinyl.

I have had past experience with vinyl dyes and had excellent results. I did my dash in my '83 Buick Regal. The most important thing you need to remember when applying the dye is to clean the surface to be dyed by removing all traces of topical protectants like Armorall. I used Acetone to clean mine. You can purchase Acetone in most hardware stores or in paint supply stores. The most important part of the process is in the preperation so take your time and go over it with the acetone a few times. After you have the area to be dyed spotless, mask the area that you do not want sprayed. Take your time with this also. Cover everything other than what you want dyed. When you are ready to treat the area keep this in mind : THIS IS DYE,IT IS NOT PAINT. The desired result is for the dye to PENETRATE the vinyl, not dry on top of it. Go lighty with the dye. Several very light "coats" will give you the look you are after. Lastly, get a decent brand name dye. I used one from Summit Racing, I believe it was PPG (been awhile). Here is Summits website. http://www.summitracing.com Oh and by the way i went from brown to black in my Regal and it turned out SWEET. No one could tell it was not a factory color.
