I replaced my original front brake pads and notice that the new OEM pads do not have holes for the pair of brake pad spreader springs like the original.
Is it ok to install the new pads without the spreader springs?
I have worked on cars that do not have these spreader springs on the front brake pads.

After installation of the new pads without the spreader springs, the brakes squeals going around corners. This is after a good break-in period. Should I drill spreader spring holes on the new pads and install the spreader springs?

Any help in eliminating the squeals will be appreciated.

They are called anti rattle springs, I installed Raybestos Quiet Stop (QS) pads which still have the holes for the anti rattle springs. Did you use anti squeal compound on shims and back of pads? Did you use new shims? Did you check caliper pins for wear and re lube? If you have the equipment to drill a perpendicular hole in the pad I might try it. I like my brakes quiet as in working properly. This cose effective engineering was done in Nissan's never ending pursuit of low cost mediocrity.

 

I also replaced my front brakes with OEM pads and noticed they didn't have holes for the spreader springs. So I didn't use them and they work fine. You just need to give them a good cleaning. My rear brakes are another story, they rattle nonstop making my car should like a piece of junk rolling down the street. Anyone know whats up with the rattle? my back brakes don't feel like they need to be replaced

 

Have you tried replacing pad retaining clips? Could help!

 

It could be pad retainers producing the rattle. Spray a good portion of breaks silencer on them before installation. I did it a week ago – no rattle!

 

what if it is already installed, is there a solution?

 

The brake hardware kit doesn't come with them these days, so I can only imagine it was deemed useless by Nissan (read: we can save more money by not including them!)

 

You can try to spray w/out removal retainers, but I’m not sure about the same efficacy.
