Not sure what this part is called...

I was recently going over a speed bump at work the other day when i heard a rattling sound coming from my front passenger-side wheel well. I took a look and saw that my oil filter and drive belt was exposed. Apparently, the plastic piece (or shield) that bolts into the side wall was partially torn off.

Is it imperative that I get this "shield" replaced right away? I just called my local Nissan dealer and they have to order it, which takes a few days. The forecast isn't calling for rain in the next few days, so I think I should be ok, right? Thankf for your input guys.

err yeah don't worry about it... i personally feel it's not imperative that you get it replaced... but hey if you can and when you can, go for it.

It'll keep unwanted **** from getting all up in that sucker... hehe

no worries though.

My screw completely fell off. All I see is a big hole where the screw should be. Hopefully I can get the piece soon - don't wanna be driving and have all that crap getting in my engine bay.

SO did mine, Yank one of the screws of next to it, goto Autozone and get one of the idiots there to match it. And get a matching Washer. Chances are it's stripped so you might have to find one of those self fill screws.... Best of luck you ya! I'm stil trying to fix mine.

Darn plastic piece cost me $43 at the Nissan dealership! I'm bringing it to my local mechanic tomorrow to replace along with an oil change and rotation - he'll charge less than half that of the dealership.
