i am suspecting a knock sensor failure due to my bad performance below 3000rpm, which led me to see what kind of milage i was getting.

i filled my tank up with 6.5 gallons of 92 gas and drove normally (not going past 3000rpm) half on the freeway, half off; but while on the freeway about half of the time was traffic,~30-50mph would be a good range.. air was on for about 40% of the time..

mods include a midpipe/intake (newer filter) and a pretty damn heavy woofer box (2 12w7s)

would this sound normal to you guys? if not, what could be wrong?

btw, it was about 115 miles for 6.5 gallons

I've experienced as bad as 12mpg!!!
anyhow, with traffic and air conditioning on, it's tough to say.
your best bet is to keep tabs of the mileage for a full tank...

I've been keeping track of my mileage, and I usually score between
19-22 MPG (mind you, my car has 195K KMs or about 120K Miles).

if you're not receiving any codes, I wouldn't worry about the KS.

Even with a bad oxygen sensor, I was getting 19 - 22 MPG, hard driving (5500 RPM many times). . . and now with the fixed sensor, im getting about the same. Is your ECU throwing you any codes?

 

i got the same problem.. got 18.. did a lil hard drivin'.. not much.. i think i need to get new oxygen sensor.. how do i know if it's goin' bad.. for both?
