I have a 97 with a converted 5speed and now I have fluid leaking out of my passanger axle where it goes in the tranny. the seal is new, the axle is new. what elso can cause it to leak? I dont think I have a differential bearing problem because the axle doesnt wobble or move inside and also I dont hear any whining in the gears. fluid just seems to come out from the seal. any ideas?

Improper seal installation or it may have torn when you put the axel back in.

I'd sure hate to attempt to replace that seal with the tranny in the car, it's in a nasty location.

Did you re-use your old passenger side axle from the auto? I did, and ever since then, even with new seals and the diff bearings replaced, it still leaks. I am gonna go get a 70 dollar 5-speed reman axle and try it out.

the tranny seal is new and installed at nissan, we did use the original auto one then noticed it leaking alot(about a drip every few seconds) so we went and got a rebuilt one and tried that, same thing. I guess im off to the dealer for their opinion. this sucks
