Question about JWT ECU ?

The next step im going to take is to get the upgraded JWT ECU for the Max. Can anyone tell me what to expect from this upgrade in my 1/4 mile times? Will I see gains, or does it have to be used in combination with the MEVI?

Im going to get the JWT ECU upgrade first and then the MEVI. Let me know what you guys think ?

a 96 will work in a 97
has to be same model and transmission

example: 97 Maxima SE Manual has to have 96 Maxima SE Manual ECU

You will have some killer mid range with the JWT ECU and stock intake manifold. I don't know exactly what 1/4 mile gains you'll be looking at, but I would think at least .15 or .2, but that is just an educated guess.

Your making the right decision on getting the ECU first, but if you order today you might get it in two months. So I would just start looking for a used MEVI now or get in on a group deal.

The MEVI and JWT/ECU is good for an easy 3 tenths gain.

yes you are going in the right direction by getting the ECU before the manifold. like i30mike said i would presume a .20-.25 drop in your ET.

well it seems i have done everything to free up some hp but im not doing anything to create more power. i ran a mitsubishi lancer evo vIII last night at the track, and i understand the guy was new like me, so i was able to stay close to him, but about half way down the track, he started pulling away, and the maxima seemed to be struggling at that point.

it seems I need something thats going to give me some power out in no mans land, because even though my launchs are still poor, the vq is dishing out some nice power off the line. so by getting the jwt ecu and then mevi .. i will gain some ground but after that, im not sure what to do ?

one thing is for sure, once you get out there on the track racing and trying to beat your times, it really motivates you to save some dollas and get some more stuff.

im still trying to figure out if my test pipe is helping me or hurting me? and really the only way to tell is to put the stock cat back on.

then their is the frankencar midpipe versus stock resonator box ?

but im thinking maybe either of the two are not enough to make much difference.

just from going out to the track these 2 times, the maxima is pretty quick compared to many cars, sure there are faster cars than us but we can be fast enough to get some respect

last night i was lined up against a honda civic, the guy stopped by to talk, said he had a driver for his car, i was thinking, thats cool ! Said he had done some engine work and was waiting for a turbo for the car. he then looked confused and asked why was i driving a maxima ? i told him my story of how i ended up with the max. Anyways he just kinda laughed and acted as if i was in a big boat and should be lined up against this sorry saturn that was behind us. he was nice though and didnt pay me much attention. finally we lined up and i was going to see the civic in action first hand.
the light went green and the max trashed the car. i kinda figured that but you just never know what someone else may have. its surprising how little some people know about the car.

but anyways.. like i was saying the jwt is on my list and i was trying to get some idea of what affect it will have on the car before i get the mevi.

NICKLE and DimeN my way up !

I think both the ECU-MEVI is good for .4-to maybe even a half second gain from stock...I think the ECU will bring back all of the mid-range loss from the MEVI, but im not one to speak with no ECU yet.

I gained an average of about .3 seconds from the addition of the ECU to my car already equipped with MEVI. If you are adding a JWT ECU to a non-mevi car I'd expect around .2 second improvement. Similar to that of a y pipe maybe just a tiny bit less.
