I have the opportunity to get 5th gen maxspeed springs for free. Will they fit my 4th gens?

The rear springs should fit but I am not sure the fronts will.

You really should get the right springs for your car.

They will propably fit up front, but the rear wount sit right on the shock.

 

Oh. conflicting opinions. That's ok. Maybe the 3rd person to reply will know.

Yeah, definitely not the best setup, but free is good cuz I should have new suspension stuff by next year. I really hate the floaty feeling going through saloms and leaning like crazy through the sweepers.

I'm not sure about fitment, but get it for free and sell it. Use that money plus an extra $20-$40 to buy 4th gen springs I just paid $107 shipped for new ones on eBay

 

I Know because my Brother Deven2kstickmax used 4th gen rear springs on his 5th gen max. I am not recomending this ! So do not do it , not responsible for any accidents!

 

Once again, the rears don't fit correctly. They will not seat down all the way on the rear shock. I've been through this with 5th gen Tein springs and 4th gen AGX's - It doesn't work!

 

I would trust njmaxseltd...he knows his **** for sure. Sorry if this doesnt help, but if you are going to do a drop, as far as saftey is concerned you should if not must do it right

 

Why not just trade them for some 4th gen ones or sell them? It's not fun to have your spring fall off the shock seat when your driving.

And just because you might be able to go 4th -> 5th, doesn't mean the opposite will work. The 5th gen has a wider shock seat in the rear, and with that wider spring in the rear and the small perch, you could break your rear spring perches off and the whole back end of your car would slam into the ground and start dragging. Doesn't sound pretty huh?

njmaxseltd is a well respected suspension installer that has done many many 4th and 5th gen suspension installs. I'd trust his suspension knowledge over most anyone else on this forum.

 

awesome...i've got a 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen maxima in the driveway and have done suspension work on all 3 gens...just never noted if you could swap parts or not.

I made an agreement w/the owner of the springs that I would not sell them...so I either gotta give them back or give them away.

I had 5th gen springs on my car... they were high so I took them out

the fronts are the SAME but the rear spring will sit on the shock's pearch.

 

you have probably the two most edjucated suspension folk on this same thread...njmaxseltd, and Drewm, that should tell you your answer
