1995 Maxima GLE, is it worth it?

Guys, I'm wondering if this is a good deal, I have already negotiated the price down so its almost a done deal, all I have to do is get the title and pay him

now it is a Black 1995 Nissan Maxima GLE, 86,000 miles

Options:
-ABS
-Driver Power Seat
-Power Steering
-Custom Wheels
-V6 Engine
-Automatic
-Air Conditioning
-Power Windows
-Cruise Control
-Bose Sound System CD Player w/ Radio
-Heated Seats
-Sunroof
-Factory Alarm
-Aftermarket Custom Alarm w/ Keyless Entry
-Remote Start for Engine

it was originially priced at 6,900 but negotiated down to 6,100

The CONS though are somewhat bad:
-CD Player doesnt display any track or anything, it just plays the CD, the display doesnt work
-Time Clock display doesn't work
-Minor Dents and Scratches
-Dirty on some Spots
-This car was previously sold at a Car Auction and was leased as a dealer vehicle
-The Wheels looked dirty, a lot of his tune ups and stuff he did like year or two ago
-he didn't have any maintenece records, tune check ups, or oil change papers with him
-he didn't have his title(pink slip) with him
- he is demanding for me to pay first and he will leave the car at my house with the keys and everything the day i pay him while he clears the money in the bank and transfers the title
- i asked him if he had extra keys, he said he lost it on a fishing trip
-i will most likely have to replace the clock by myself, and might just put in a new radio/CD/cassette combo systyem which will cost me 250-300 dollars
-Engine parts had some rust on it and it was somewhat dirty at some areas
-The previous owner was a smoker and there are burns on the fabric part of the driver's seat

now i dont know if this is money's worth, i was thinking of other cars such as an used Hyundai Tiburon & Honda Accord yet i cant find any decent used cars of these

am i getting ripped offf or is it a good deal?

the ride was smooth and one suspecting thing is that I asked him if he had ABS and he said yes but im not fully sure now because he didnt list that on the advertisement, and ABS is HUGE, people have told me this car may be stolen too but not sure, im gonna be having this car as my first car and have it for the next 2-3 years then get a new car

advice please

In my honest opiniong...I would use that money for a 97+ I've seen quite a few go for that or a bit more around here (Philly) and the issue of rsut is something you want to stay away from...in addition the interior is going to reek like smoke for quite some time.

if there is a possibility that the car has been stolen...stay away from it...you don't know the real history...plus the auction factor...too many questions...I'd leave it alone.

good luck

I dunno...it all sounds kinda fishy to me I'll agree with nupe and say just stay away from it.

The max amount I would pay for that is like $4000, but stay away from rusting

GLE's only came with leather interior and I can't think of any part of the seat that would be fabric except for the back bottom seat cushion where it wraps under the seat but that's more carpet. I'd keep looking if that was my hard earned money.

This sounds a little shady, it might be worth it to keep looking, but if I were you I would definately get a Maxima over a Tiburan or Accord. If you keep looking, you'll be able to find a good deal

$6,100 is too high. My friend just bought his 95 GLE, with all options... 89XXX miles for $4,500. All papers and perfect conditions. No rusts no nothing so 6,100 is too high. I wouldn't get it unless I could bring it down. My 2 cents.

Whoa lol I just read the other part of the cons... their is no cloth on seats in GLEs as Delerium says.. and give him the money while he goes to the bank and clears it and than he drops the car off. Seems like a scam to me.

It's worth running a CarFax report also for any used car your are interested in.

It might have some history the seller will not tell you.

NEVER give anybody money up front!!! Sounds pretty shady to me!

Good luck,
Tim
