I'm about to get the budget Y-pipe for my 99 Max SE-L 5-spd. There's been lots of fuss on the forum about cali spec max etc. etc. I live in Chicago and bought my max used, but the original owner bought it new in Chicago, as well. so...

- First, do I need to worry about the cali spec stuff ( what is it anyway?)?

- Second, when I put the budget y-pipe on...is there a place for the front O2 sensor on it?

- Third, some people said that they got a check engine light right after they put their y-pipe on even though they hooked everything up correctly. Will I get one?

- Fourth, many of you experienced noises in the flex section etc...and rattling sounds when driving...what causes that and how can I prevent it?

- Fifth, will the flex section wear out quickly? On average, how long does the pipe last?

- Lastly, when (and if..hehe) I don't drive hard with the y-pipe on, will my car waiste a lot more gas?

Thanks in advance all!

Just buy the god damn pipe.....

Or better yet, call Budget and ask them these questions ...or better yet...buy the god damn pipe.

I sure hate to be a ***** but (I am lying). It is an exhaust pipe. Many people here have Budgets and Warpspeed Y pipes.

I have not seen a bad flex section post for over a year. Most of the problems have been remedied.

Cali spec - California emissions...different requirements.

O2 sensor.... the BUNG will be there.

CEL - never heard of it unless they do not reinstall O2 sensors properly.

Bro - take a chance and buy the god damn pipe...... cheap mod.

I had no problems getting the Budget Y onto my car nor were there any after effects. I had mine installed in the spring.
