I have a 96 Max. On a 10 gallon, I can get 130 miles out of my car in the city. Whenever I step on the gas pedal and gets the rpm up to 3000, once I release the pedal. It drops back to 1000 rpm in an instant. From what my friend told me, it should come back down to 1000 rpm slowly, not free fall. He told me the fuel injector could be the problem. My CEL is giving me the EVAP errors(0903 and 0807). I'm not sure if that contribute to the problem also.
I've tried putting the STP fuel injector cleaner, but the dial still free falls back to 1000rpm when I release the gas pedal. I've replaced the ks, O2, PCV, ICAV, fuel filter, air filter and oil change.
Could it be the injectors are spitting out too much rich fuel?
Anyone have problem with the max where it spray too much fuel?
My car is eating up way too much fuel.
Appreciate for the comments.

Does it do this in gear while driving? Sounds like you have a torque converter with a high stall speed.Originally posted by Max96GLE

I dont think the fuel injector spit rate is your problem.
I'm still not sure what you think your car is doing wrong...??

Doesn't matter while i'm driving or idle. The pointer does a quick drop from 3000rpm to 1000rpm whenever I release the gas pedal. Thanks for you help.
