hey everyone, i'm about to join the wonderful world of maxima ownership. my cousin had 2 and loved them both. and as we all know, camries have ZERO personality! so it's a maxima for me.

i'm in the market for 95-97 maxima SE/Automatic to use as a local driver/2nd car to haul my drums around in, and (of course) have a little fun while i'm doin' it. again, since the car WILL be a 2nd car for me, i don't want to spend a lot of dough. this is why i don't mind a 95 in decent shape. i've read here and most EVERYWHERE else on the web (and my cousin confirms it) that a well maintained one will last 150k miles or more.

my question is this...does ABS come STANDARD on 95 SEs, or is it stricly an option (assuming it's even available on that year)??? if not standard, is there a way to tell from the VIN number whether it came on a particular car??? if you can't get it at all on 95s, what years did it become STANDARD (or optional, assuming i can tell) on SEs. and again, to qualify this, i'm STRICTLY looking at SEs.

i live in new orleans - it rains all year long. i WANT/NEED ABS, so any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as any other general tips on 95-97 SEs...what to look for/what to avoid stuff.

i don't have abs on my 95se but i think you can tell by looking in the fusebox. there is a fuse for abs if you have it. the slot will be empty if you don't.

 

i dont think it was STANDARD on any model, maybe the 99 se-l's but i doubt that too
