plrod Black 95 SE, I checked out your other post and would agree 100% with Daniel B. Martin (as always), when he mentioned "You may have done some harm by using a C-clamp because the clamp presses straight back and you should be turning the piston". The reason for this is the rear brake mechanism is quite different from the front due to the fact the parking brake activates the rear caliper. As such, it needs some sort self adjuster to compensate for rear brake pad wear. That self adjusting mechanism is a spiral thread that the caliper rides on. Each time you pull up on the parking brake lever the piston actually spins on the shaft, self adjusting each time. It is because of this the rear brake piston has to be reset by rotating it back into the bore, and not just pushing it straight back. Now you did say the “C” clamp was rotating the piston as it reset, this is a good thing. Secondly you ask: “should I do them both together or does it not matter”. Really doesn’t matter. If one is sticking, do that one, but I would keep an eye on the other side.

Lastly, I would be interested in knowing how the rebuild goes.

Regards.
