replaced timing chain before 65k???

i'm looking at a 95SE w/65k at a dealer. it is in great condition.

upon discussing the car w/salesman, he said they inspect all their cars, and that his mechanic noticed that the timing chain cover looked like it had been removed and replaced. he wasn't sure if the chain had been replaced.

i know chain is supposed to last the life of the engine, which should be at least 150k if properly serviced. the car comes from dealer w/ a 90 day/3k warranty, and his extended warranties are realtively cheap.

is this something to investigate further (outside inspection)???

The tensioners were a problem for those years. It's probably been replaced, which is a good thing for you!
