I have a '95 GLE that I bought new in 10/94 with 109k miles.

I have started to notice a "clunky" sound. First on what I believe was the left front wheel and now coming from the back as well when going over bumps.

Clunky isn't the exact sound. Kinda clunky light meets bouncy.

I'm trying to figure out if the stuts would need replacing about now or if this could be something attached or mounts or something.

 

its hard to distinguish what the problem could be, but it may just be your struts. If you want more info on what to replace them with or whatnot:

At 109,000 I'd want to replace the struts and rear shocks just to give the car back a nice firm ride. It's very possible thats the noise your hearing.
