homelink visor

I have a 95SE without a homelink visor....can i pull this off another maxima or i30 and simply put it in place of my current visor? Has anyone else done this? Is it easy? How can I do this?

Yes, you will be able to put in a homelink visor provided that u already have a visor with vanity lights with the mirrors. It is a plug and play mod. The connectors are the same for visors with homelink and without homelink.

Do you have one that is compatible for rolling code door openers? I have an early homelink unit that won't work with the new rolling code door openers...would like to upgrade if the cost is right!

That sounds great. Do you know if it will handle the newer garage door openers with "rolling code" technology? I already have the older Homelink that isn't compatible.

LIke I said, I THINK that it was out of a 99. I got it out of a junked car that I got most of the interior out of. However... there was no door and no guage pod, so I have no way to tell if it was actaully a 99. They guy told me that it was, so that's what I was going with. The leather seats that I got out of it had side air bags if that helps.

Does anyone know what year they started working with rolling code openers. I have a 98 GLE and have never been able to get it to work. I figured it was because of the rolling code. Any info would be great.

Thanks

Tried to PM you, it says that your box is full. So here ya go:

"Sorry, i just realized that i had this PM. I got them cleaned up this weekend and they will be shipped tonight. Your tracking number will be 1Z6001EW2210123370 through UPS. I will be shipping tonight when I get home so the number should be functional tomorrow morning. I will also be sending both sides for you so that the airbag warning labels match and because it's been WAY too long for you to wait. Sorry about the delay. You can e-mail me at justin@glacialbass.com with any questions. My other e-mail has been pretty flakey lately.

Justin"

Justin...never got the Homelink visor. Are you going to send it? I checked the UPS tracking number for a few days and the number never existed. If you can't send the visor I will need to get my $$ back - you've had it since mid-August.

Yup...and that was after original promises of shipping it "the next day", etc. The ironic thing is that I've been on the forum for years and that was my first purchase of anything from another member...not exactly a good experience. I just wonder how many other people "bought" the same homelink visor or other stuff from this guy and never got it.

What if I don't have the lighting mirrors, are the visors still prewired just like the seats. Any body have the visors in grey?

just some info about the homelink and rolling codes.

I have a 98 SE and to program the homelink visor to work with a rolling code garage door opener you need to follow these steps:

1. Hold down buttons 1 and 3 on the visor for 20 seconds (far left button is 1, middle is 2, and right is 3). The light will flash rapidly, this clears all the codes previously stored.

2. Hold your garage door opener up to the visor and press the opener button and the button on the visor that you want to program- hold them both down until the light blinks.

Now your homelink visor knows what signal it needs to send to operate the garage door. but the garage door has rolling code, so it wont work yet.

3. Go inside your garage to the actual opener unit, there should be a button on the side or back that allows you to program new remotes. If you cant find this button, consult the owners manual. In my case, i had to press the button and then run to my car and press the homelink visor button that i had programmed. The opener light blinked and presto, it works!

edit- dont hold down the button on the main opener unit, just press it once (may be different for different units). but usually, holding it down clears out all the remotes that it recognizes, then your parents, or spouse's remotes wont work.
Hope this helps.
