help! brake pedal still soft after replacing rear pads

I replaced my rear brake pads yetserday and had my front rotors cut and new pads installed a week ago. I am still feeling the soft pedal and is not firm as i think it should be when breaking. Is there something I am suppose to do after replacing the rear pads for adjustment?

Get Steal brake lines...they dont expand like the rubber ones and give you a firmer pedal. I think they run about a $100 and while ur at it change ur brake fluid.

Rear brakes dont really do a lot of braking...Its the front ones that do almost 70% of all the stopping. Bleeding your brake system will offer better braking performance because old brake fluid losses its kick after a while. am i rite guys?

no you shouldn't have to bleed them if you just changed pads...but with a soft pedal that would be my first action..

sounds almost like you have a leak in the system, there is not enough pressure in there to let the pistons compress good. How is the fluid in the resivour?

Yes, you should bleed your system. If it's still soft, replace your master cylinder. If still soft, replace your slave cylinder---->Peace_

thanks! Acutally the fluid in the resivour is ok. I drove the car today about 70 miles and i think the pads just needed to get broken into...they are prefect now. the pedal is nice and firm now.

I did have get my master cylinder replaced once though when the car was still under warranty.

thanks for the help guys!
