i can tell you that there is no 05 12 code. code 12 05 is: Line Pressure Solenoid Valve (Automatic Transmission, maybe you misread it?

I got this code a while back. I'm not sure what it is but I got this after I washed my engine bay. I think i may have shorted something. My boy owns an audio shop fixed the problem, i'm not sure what he did.

I'll try to get ahold of him. I think that he said that all I need to do is check if the any wires were touching in the engine bay. Make sure all connectors are connected. I'll check for ya.

I have the same problem with my 99 GLE, I get the code 05 12. I reset it, and it came back on the next time I drove the car. Did you fix yours if so could you tell me how you did it.

Change your rear O2 sensor...I had the same problem. '99 Max. I let it go for about 6 months. It doesn't really affect performance but it will eat up gas a little quicker, IIRC.

I changed mine out a week ago (VERY easy to do) and haven't had a single problem since. Basically, when the O2 sensor is going out it will send irregular voltage signals back to the ecu...giving you that code. When it does finally go out I believe it gives a different 05-xx code.

If you do a search for '0512' only then you will find several posts about it.

is it the right rear or the left rear ?
is it the last one before the cat that goes up to the header on the back of the engine near the fire wall?

I'm not Cali spec...the only rear O2 sensor I had was right after the last catalytic converter in my exhaust. Just follow the exhaust back...IIRC it is basically under the rear passengers feet if you were looking from the side of the car.
I believe you are referring to the downstream O2 sensors attached to both sides of the OEM y-pipe (that attach to the engine). Those O2 sensors throw a different code.
0512 is definitely further down the exhaust...
