How to Install KYB AGX's +GC Coilovers? Help Needed.

I am in need of some help installing some KYB AGX Struts/shocks and some Ground Control Coilovers. I have never done suspension work and would really appreciate some good help/websites. I feel pretty comfortable with installing just struts, but I dont have any idea on how to install coilovers. If anyone can help me through this step by step, or has pics on a website, or if you just have some good suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. How long do you think it would take me to do my whole cars suspension removal of stock and install of KYB/GC? BTW I have been searching on test.maxima.org and have not really found what I needed.

Thanks guys,

-Nick

Installing GC's is pretty much the same as spring/strut suspensions. The sleve for the coilovers goes over the strut (using the rubber o-rings in the kit). Then spring then sits on the the adjustable collar on that sleve.

check out this thread

You might have to grind down the KYB AGX crown on the front struts in order to acomodate the threaded sleeve, it was neccesary for weapon r's. other than that is comon sense, make sure to trim your OEM bump stops about 1/3 . check the thread and link to cardomain for more pics.

Do you by any chance have pics of you installing the coilover onto the strut?

That's a good diagram but the GC's don't have a helper spring...

Re: How to Install KYB AGX's +GC Coilovers? Help Needed.

I have the KYB AGX with GC. I do not have pictures on how I installed it. It was last summer before I bought a camera. I can try to help from what I can remember. Please note that I may not be using the correct technical term for my descriptions. Let's see, you will have to grind the strusts\shocks. At the end, there is a hexagon shape. I just rounded them out. The cylinder for the GC (the piece with the threads to adjust the height) cannot slide over, because of it. I also had difficulties sliding the cylinder with the rubber spacers. I decided to grind one end of the rubber spacers about 1/8 of an inch just so I can fit it in. The weight of the car will slide the rest of it. Time frame for me was about 4 hours. I encountered problems loosening bolts, the rubber spacers. You can probably get it done 2-3 hours. I hope this helps.
