I have a 99 I30 /Maxima
Had a flat on the drivers side front tire,
filling station tried to jack the car up by placing the roll around jack's pad about 2 feet in from the side rail on what looked like part of the body pan. I said use the side rail just under the door. he siad "no, we jack under the frame - I said thats the body pan not the frame. this car has no frame

whats the correct place?.
he said jacking on the side just bends the side raid channel (which it does)

Use the jack point on the center cross member. You can get to it from the front of the car, and there's a nub for the jack to sit in.

Do you have an I30 or a Maxima? They are different, after all

You are correct that your car does not have a frame, but there is a rail about 1 foot in from the side on the floor pan that you can use as jack point. It runs from just behind the front wheel to about a foot in front of the back wheel. The rail is a good place to put jack stands.

!!!!!!DO NOT USE THAT RAIL!!!!!!

I did when I first got my car...it caves in! My rear passenger floor is pushed up so far now that the front seat won't slide back. It's not a beam...it's just sheet-metal. Use the crossmember.

which rail are we all talking about?
the side rail right under the door sill is where the ownere manual tells you to put the scissor jack that comes with the car.
The filling station guy wanted to put the roll under jack about another foot further under the carlike almost under the accellerator pedal area.
Is that "frame area safe?wish i had a digital camera!!!!!!!!!

No...that frame area isn't safe...that's where I caved mine in (on the back, tho).

Do yourself a favor, and only use the crossmember. I'll grab my digital camera tonight and snap some pictures...even though it will pain me to look at the damage again.

Camera's broken...but if the search feels like working, you can find another thread on this topic (with pics). I posted in that thread, so that should narrow your search down.
