Yesterday I had a little too much fun with this Si. He pulled up behind me and was laughing and I thought to myself "you will be crying after this." I let him get ahead of me and then he gunned it. i passed him easily then we got to a red light. i didn't drop it and just floored it, missed 2nd like a dumbass and then I was still ahead of him. Then once I hit 3rd he was toast cause everyone knows how good 3rd gear is in a 5-speed max. Anyone else roasted any Si's lately?

I cut one off REALLL bad in traffic, and he honked and crap, then got beside me a couple times and would take off, but i would catch him REAL fast and smoke him.... I have an AUTO '95 se w/ jwt intake.. I thought si's were supposed to be faster then that?

Si's do 0-60 in 7.2 A 97 SE does it in 7.1 So the two cars are pretty close, but over 100mph or so the civic will pull the Maxima thanks to the help it gets from the V-Tec motor. The numbers come from http://www.motortrend.com for the civic and I have pics of the articles for the 97 max if anyone wants to see them. :-P

why is it then....

I know, I saw the 7.2 thing, and can't figure out why after a couple runins with Si's, my auto '95 se smokes them everytime... I only have a new intake..

?

do they all just suck at driving?

December 2000 Sport Compact Car test:

2k Honda Civic Si Stock
0-30: 3.3
0-60: 7.9
30-50: 2.8
50-70: 4.3
1/4 mile: 15.9@88.5

Just to add another note, a HKS turbo charged 2k SI
0-30: 2.8
0-60: 7.1
30-50: 2.5
50-70 3.9
1/4 mile: 15.2@90.6

Maybe i missed something but isnt that slow for a FORCED inducted Si? I mean, I'm only 2/10 of a sec off with my cali auto max w/ intake & chrome rims in the 1/4 mile.

In the same issue, i found this funny as well.
Stock 2k Max SE
0-30: 3.0
0-60: 7.4
30-50: 2.7
50-70: 3.8
1/4 mile: 15.5@91.3

Maybe its me but doesnt all these numbers seen kinda slow? I mean i will credit the Si too, i thought it was a bit quicker. Oh well, thought i would add my 2 cents. BTW, good kill GTR.

Check out http://www.motortrend.com under the Road Test section for more acurate numbers. Those do seem a little slow. They have to 2000 Si and the 2000 Max SE

Sigh...

- Guys, how many times must we discuss this... First, I'm pretty sure that all American spec Civic Si's are stick-shift, right? So, if the moronic Honda-lover doesn't know how to launch a high-rpm car, he's already toast from a start. DRIVERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Second, those numbers you keep throwing around are derived from a professional test-driver. I doubt that many people on this board (including me) can achieve a sub 7.5 second 0-60 time. Thirdly, the Maxima is just plain faster.
- At 100mph, it would be a theoretical toss up. The Maxima makes jack power above 5000rpm, so it's got no good pull at that high of a speed. But, it is more aerodynamic than a Civic (Maxima has a .34 drag coefficient, I think). I could imagine a Civic gaining a little, but it doesn't have a top speed of 142mph, like a stick Maxima. Check the numbers again... While the Civic might have a shorter "90 to 100mph" time, that doesn't excuse it crappier overall time when all the numbers are added up.
- Don't forget this last test of champions... When you turn on your air conditioner, does your car lose 45% of its power, like in a 4-banger Civic?!?! LOL ;-)
