Questions for people with upgraded suspension...
I'm soon to buy some agx's with progress springs. Has anyone found it necessary to get a camber kit, and if so, what kind and where? Also, is anyone familiar with the ride quality of agx's and progress combo? I also see that kyb has the boot and bumpstop kit as well, and what are the pros and cons of everything? Thanks, fellas.

you dont need a camber kit..
agx's are firm struts.. it depends on what your tolerance is. some people say theyre not much different from stock, some say otherwise. personally the only problem i have with them is the front struts dont absorb sudden bumps (they don't compress quickly enough). my car seems to jump over bumps instead of absorbing them.
if you want the best possible suspension, good performance while retaining good ride quality, go for tokico illuminas (theyre also the most expensive).

I've been running the KYB/AGX (set at 3/6), Progress springs, FSTB, rear sway bar setup on my 95SE for the last several weeks. Yes, I kept the 15" sawblade wheels, 17" wheels are in the plans.
The ride is firmer but not harsh on my older and sensitive behind. The ride smooths out the more people in the car. The handling is night versus day better! The tires and quicker steering ratio are now the limiting factors to superb handling qualities.
Ride quality is a judgement call.

When do you "need" a camber kit? Is there a specific lowered amount where it is a must? Like a 2.5 inch drop or something? I am getting KYB AGX's with Ground Control Coilovers and am planning on lowering my car 2.25", Do you think a camber kit is a must there?

In retrospect, I wish I went lower than 1.7" drop the Progress springs gave me. My 95SE still looks relatively taller than I prefer. I think a 2.5" drop would be just right looking but my behind may not tolerate the stiffer ride or speed bump bottoming. Usually a drop of a round 2" for the Max requires a camber kit. I did not need one at 1.7" but the alignment settings were close to the maximum allowed.

With AGX, you can adjust some of the shock setting. But if you want squishy, just get some GR-2 and save $.
You'll need new boots if your old ones are worn. For bump stop, if your old ones are mush, get new ones. Or maybe Progress comes with bump stops? I think Eibachs come w/new bump stops.

You dont need the camber kit until you go past about a 2" drop on the maxima. I have the KYB's set to 2/4 with Progress springs and 40 profile tires. The ride is stiff but I like it that way. It is never like those guys you see going down the freeway that look like they are about to bounce right out the sunroof.
I have had this setup about a year now and have been very happy with it. After the car settled my drop was about 1 3/4" plus about another 1/4" due to the fact that my 17" wheels on 40 profile tires are just a bit smaller than my stock wheel/tire setup.
I will warn you. Wait a week or two (depending on how much you drive) to get your car alligned or you will buy new tires in a few months (experience talking). Also, make sure you wrap the springs when you put the strut spring assemblies together or your springs will make an annoying clicking noise at every bump.

I have Mine set to 2/4 and it is awsome for summer time. I have H&R springs. The ride is a lot smoother then Stock i like it a lot. In winter time i'll go down to 1/4 setting and It should be fine when it is really cold......

Thanks for all your replies, people! I heard the boot kits for the struts make rattling noises, anyone with this experience? I've never had to drop a car before, so I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I get what I need, and do things right for that matter, so anything anyone can tell would be great. I doubt my boots are worn, but I'd like to replace those things while I'm working on it.

the only thing that can make noise in your suspension is metal on metal contact. i.e. spring coils hitting each other, or the spring not being seated properly on the strut bottom and moving around. everything else is rubber and will not make noise.
you can take a look at your strut boots by looking into your wheel well. they should probably be replaced. also replace your front strut bearings.

can anybody give me a direct link to the parts on a cheap site or a few cheap sites where I can get the rubber spring mounts, kyb dust boots, and front strut bearings <--(do I need these?), and also nylon wrapping for the springs. I have heard the stuff from radio shack doesn't work well.

hehe. 224,000 miles on my 93 max se 5sp...just changed the suspension this week. No squeeks. Of all the nissans I've worked on, never had a problem of noise (LrdRandall's squeek was easily fixed in 2min). I've never used the wire loom wrap.

I'll never go lower than 20's, so I'm contemplating raising it up a half inch...
As far as the milage i had on mine....+- 100,000 miles
