ECU Error Code 1005 Can anyone help?
1005
1005 is EGRC Solenoid valve
The majority of my information about Diagnostic Trouble Codes comes from my '99 Maxima factory service manual. Unfortunately, DTC 1005 is not in that book. Starting in '99 the Maxima engine uses a step-motor type of EGR valve and with that change, the DTCs changed.
The Chilton and Haynes manuals provide a little information about the EGR Solenoid Valve.
The test procedure for this part is found in the Chilton repair manual (page 4-11) and the Haynes repair manual (page 6-20). Test the valve and replace if necessary.
This malfunction is not an emergency but should be resolved fairly soon (7-10 days). An inoperative EGR valve may result in engine pinging and a variety of driveability complaints.
I looked it up and that is what I received. Can someone tell me how this can be fixed and how much it would cost? Thanks.

In my '95, this was a fairly inexpensive part. I paid about $65.00. Replacing it was fairly easy, too. If you look near the transmission dipstick tube, there is a small, green connector with three valves coming out of it. This is the EGR solenoid valve. I found it easier to remove the air filter assembly to gain access to it. The hoses were hard to remove, so I just cut them and put new ones on. Only air passes thru them, so nothing major to worry about. I'm not sure about the location in your particular year, but it should be in the vincity (sp.?).
