Put car on 2 hr diet, lost 59 lbs.
I removed the metal braces behind the front and rear bumpers and my HEAVY aftermarket spoiler. Now I gotta do some fill-in on my trunklid. I have no money for mods so this is all I can do at the moment.

Hipocracy at it's best. Mardigras removes his bumper reinforcements in an effort to improve 1/4 mile performance and he's a God and is never questioned. Travis (BSwithTF) removes his to do the same thing at the track and he's an idiot

oh yea well I drilled holes in my frame so i can run 11s at the track
R/C car style.

Yeah, I think taking off the doors would be a good idea. Why not take out all the seats too? Throw a small wooden stool in there or something...

Can't remove the doors. Move's me into the Comp class. Can't remove interior pieces, move's me into the Comp class. Only things I can remove are things not visible to the tech inspectors.
Some people on here need to chill out a little. I live in a pretty small town. I drive 3-4 miles to work, speed limit never over 45 mph. When not driving to and from work, my car sits. I'm not taking the freeway to work everyday and doing 80-90 mph. I apologise for making my own life a little "less safe".
Thank you to everyone for your concerns.

instead of taking off important parts of ur car, try chucking a couple pounds yourself and dont drive anyone chubby around, u'll be cool and not a insurance liability

dude...put the braces on
they can save your ***...i was rearended in my 93 and the car was totalled. i cant imagine the damage if there were no braces. and youd but ****ed with insurance. it is probably also illegal to remove "safety" equipment and you could be liable for injuries to your passengers and possibly others

I think people are putting way too much faith in the bumpers. Bumper reinenforcements are primarily for low speed crashes and to reduce overall damage. When you hit something over 20mph, a bumper isn't going to help much. The damage will be more severe without a reienforcemenmt, but remember it's rare to have a high speed (above 20mph) straight head on collision because most wrecks are off set or sideswipes. Travis also has all three stages of SFCs so I'd think the cabin of his Maxima is structurally sound and more crashworthy than most Maximas in here. Sure, he's taking a risk, but for the most part he's risking more damage than bodily harm.
As for his weight, he's a pretty built guy. I don't see where he could loose the weight

Myself on the other hand, prob wouldn't hurt to lose 10 or 15 lbs. but that takes longer than 2 hrs. And it'd be a lot more work.

huge piece of metal bolted to the frame...i generally dont just remove those. also changing it for something else, and taking it off entirely...different
