CV boot leaking

I have a certified used warranty, but I don't think they cover things that normally break like a CV Boot. It's spraying grease all over my wheels. Is there a write up somewhere about how to fix these or am I on my own? I don't want to pay a lot to get it fixed, so I'd be willing to do it myself.

A certified used car warranty should at least cover the drive line. Your probably ok so go back to where you purchased the car and have them fix that for you.

i have had the same happen to me. If the CV boots are torn and have been that way for a while then it would probably smart to replace the axles as well.

If not Couresty Nissan sells a boot kit for about $60.

I agree with Njmaxseltd. If the car is certified ,you probably still have a drivetrain coverage.Cv boot should fall into that category. If you are over the warranty mileage or time, you ll need to take care of it...

It's alot easier just to repalce the axle for $60.00 than it is to replace the boot.

Justl ook in the Chilton's manual. if you don't have a Chilton's manual, then get one - it's worth it.

From the li I kno, It bascally needless to change the boot becuz one grease and dirt star leking into the axle, the axle is due to go bad. So i's probably best and cheaper to replace the whole axle. I've had to replace both sides beacuz both boots busted. My luck.

well i just had mine fixed today and went with the whole new axle and it has paid off already....no more shake at 75mph on up....no more sounds when i hit the brakes becuase there is liqiud on the disc (i guess only logical reason considering i just had a brake job) so i would do the axle if i were you the patch kit is not the best in the long run....

How much did it cost for you to replace it?

well if it helps, i replaced my passenger cv boot (the rubber) last week.

The boot was torn but no grease leaked yet. The boot cost me 15$ canadian..so about 12$ US and the local mechanic charged me 1 hour labor which was 55$ canadian. Total of 70$ canadian = 55$ US about.

I just had my car checked out at Belle Tire last night ... turns out my left boot was ripped, so they sugested I gat a halfshaft. Supposedly, it'll cost $120 in parts, $60 in labor but I have an extended warranty, so I am not too bothered.

I dont know much about suspensions and drivetrains, so how is a halfshaft different from an axle?

Does anyone know where Belle Tire gets their parts from? Should I just do it at the dealer?

Dealer says that I need a new axle but it's not covered under drivetrain. They say that axle is considered suspension. I think that's kinda stupid because your car couldn't move forward or backward without a axle, and it could without a suspension. Anyways, I called Nissan directly and they asked me for a part number and they could tell me if it was covered. Does anybody know what the part number is for non-abs automatic driver side axle?
