Q?------ O/D on or off?????

when driving in neighborhood streets is it better for the max to keep O/D button on or off,

will switching back and forth mess up the transmission , do u think by switching it either on or off there might be a chance to either expand transmission life
or shorten it?

when O/D is off is it true that the car wont go into 4th gear

whats better on gas
O/D on or off

overall what are benefits or consequences with driving with OD on or off

there's a been a couple threads covering this everlasting debate.

its said that you should have overdrive on only when you are on a highway situation-preferably 40mph and above.

With local use, it disables the 4th gear and gives your car a "smoother" transition (at least in autos). It has also been known to save gas as well.

Here it is in a nutshell:

Highway-turn on
Local-turn off
