color matching
color matching
I recently had my fender replaced with an aftermarket one by my friend's body guy. He said the guy was good. When I got my car back the color didn't match. It's a shade different. Is this normal? I have a 1998 tan GLE. One note: I also had a spoiler put on a couple of months ago and THAT color didn't match either. In both cases they got the color from the numbers on the car. I'm now thinking that the guy I bought my car from had it painted and that color is different than the original. If so, the job was done PERFECTLY. I couldn't tell, and STILL can't. In any event, my question is this: how can I get the new section(s) of my car to match the older sections? The guy painted the new fender, the hood, and the front door. Will the computer color matching system that's advertised work?
There are quite a few places that can take a paint chip and match the color by that. so if you still have your old fender, ask around and see if any places can do that for you. then just take a paint chip off the old fender and voila you have the correct color.
