Does it matter if i get K&N filter w/ my CAI?

Yo im looking on ebay and im pretty much ready to buy one of their cold air intakes and i was pretty much set on the one with the K&N cone filter until i noticed that the ones w/out the K&N have filters that are washable and reusable as well. So i think why should i pay an extra fifty dollars for the K&N? What do yall think i should do?

I think you should buy one of those cheap filters for like $5-$20, buy a K&N recharge kit and clean and re-oil the new filter with K&N oil. Should work the same as a regular K&N

i don't think this guy knows what's going on.

The filters that come with the CAI are pieces of shyt. I probably bought the same CAI that you're planning to get off of ebay. The filter gets really dirty when you don't clean it.
What i recommend is that you get a K&N filter and K&N recharge kit after you get the CAI. K&N specialize in air filters. If that all K&N does it air filters then they have to be great. Trust me, you won't regret the extra $40.

I want to buy a K&N "off the shelf". What part number of the cone filter fits the Maxima?

The one that is on my MAX is part # RU-2820. It more shaped like a cylinder not a cone. It's not the most attractive looking filter but i bet you it's one of the better working one.

the filter that comes with a CAI isnt the best, especially if you get one off ebay, could just be some generic paper cone filter. When its in a place that recieves that much air (and dust, and dirt) its best to look into k&n, apexi, etc... and get a k&n filter recharger kit while your at it. shouldnt be hard to find a filter to fit your intake

What do you all think of the Monster Flow
foam filter. I use on really have no complaints
but i haven't had it that long. I heard that
that foam can break down and get sucked in
with the air after a long period of time.

In general i dont like foam filters as much, can get really filthy and lets more stuff through than a paper filter. Also, if its foam, seems like the small small dusty particles and stuff could just go right through it...bad
