Anyone use dynamat on their max?
I have some road noise, not excessive, but definately there, and was wondering how well dynamat actually works. Anyone do their firewall, floors, doors, cabin, etc??? Oh, and also, does the trunk kit really get rid of the rattles that a subwoofer can produce? THANKS!!!
Absolutely! I have the trunk kit and it works wonders! As far as road noize goes, you can put it in your cabin and I bet it will sound alot quiter. Check out http://95maxima.cjb.net and scroll down to Dynamat Projects and check out my install. All you need to do is rip out your seats and carpet and lay it. Wont be that hard. Just prep. And while you have the seats out, rent a carpet shampooer and clean! Trust me it will be easier. just me 2 cents.
Dynamat is good stuff. I need to finish doing my trunk. I did the 1/2 behind my stealthbox but **** is still rattling. I need to finish the rest of the trunk.
There are cheaper, smellier alternatives to Dynamat but for $135 for the trunk kit? I'll take the dynamat.

Sound dampening materials work very well. The only thing is don't listen to these guys. I did my entire trunk with 2 layers, back seat, rear deck, and front door pannels. I used about 100 square feet. It took probably close to 80 hours to do and absolutely the most boring and painful thing I have ever done, but it sounds so nice. I used a generic type of stuff call FATMAT. I would not waste the money on expensive Dynamat that you have to heat and it smells pretty bad. The fatmat smelled like tar for a week, but aftr that it had no sent whatsoever.

This makes absoloutely no sense whatsoever. Dynamat doesn't smell *at all* and yet you're saying Fatmat is better because it only smells for a week? Okaaay...
You definitely do have to heat Dynamat though, and I also agree that installing it is a PAINFUL process. Many many hours squashed in the trunk trying to get **** to come out flat. Not hard per se, but a real PITA.

Theres my install. The trunk kit wont be enough, just look at mine. Put it on the "important" parts and see if it works good. If you still get bad results.. Add more!
