driving 85mph+ on cheap tires

driving 85mph+ on cheap tires

my 95 gle wit 130k has CHEAP FUTURA tires from pepboys their speed rating is 85mph MAX. but i want to drive like 110 once in awhile these tires have a lota life on them so thats why i cant change em but what kinda of risk do i run goin 85+ on these tires?? will they deflate/rip.pop???
thanks for any advice

Hitting 110 for a few moments is dangerous no matter what, but as long as you dont cruise at 120 for 1 hour , those tires could handle it.

I would not suggest running those tires very hard at all. If you are into russian roulette, chances are that the tires are not flawed... but since they are the cheapos, you can bet that you have probably drawn from the worst possible lot of tires that manufacturer makes.

I'm no expert but here is my take on the situation:
Eventually, and you'll never know when, the plies will pull apart causing the tires to go out of round and possibly blow out... or the tread will rip causing your car to become virtually uncontrollable.

And IF a failure happens, these tires will most likely fail while you are hitting higher speeds.
