New Muffler is Incredible!!!

Sup people, just wanted to say that i got my performance muffler installed and it sounds absolutely amazing! For any Maxima owner who wants the muffler mod but cant afford the catback just yet, it will not sound like a honda. It is sooo unique and turns heads everywhere! Has anybody else seen good results with just the performance muffler?

Not to burst your bubble or anything but a muffler is going to give you minimal gains. Expect about 1-2 hp. Go with a y-pipe and b-pipe and you'll gain 14 to 16 hp. Regardless, a Maxima sounds damn good with a muffler doesn't it?

very vague in ur description a "performance muffler" and sound is subjective and the butt dyno can only tell u so much as well as the ear dyno "my car is louder, therefore its faster"

I recently got a Powertech PT-1011 muffler installed...holy **** that thign sounds great. NOTHING like a honda and that was a huge worry of mine. Coupled with my intake its like an importish muscle car..you hear the rumble up front and you hear the throaty exhaust out the back. Even my firebird buddy likes it and he absolutely hates most import exhaust sounds..

why do you refer to "honda" sounding exhaust when refering to rasply sounding exhaust, just say "small displacement" 4 cyl exhaust sounding. there are PLENTY of crappy sounding 4 cyl. nissans, mazdas, chevrolets, toyotas, etc.

sorry to complain, but i used to be/kinda am still a honda boy...

I think its b/c of all the POS civics people see that sound like they're going 120mph when they're only pulling out of a parking lot.

Plus they are usually incredibly high pitch as they cruise by you @ 5k RPM

i do agree that MOST honda drivers are ignorant, and i believe they have made a bad name for honda. but once in a while, you will run into someone who actually is knowledgable about their honda, but they are few and far between...

IN NYC, you see lots of ghetto sooped up civics with Bees in the can exhausts. They are loud and are actually quite stupid when you watch them cruise down the road at 10-15 mph. Gives the import market a bad rap IMHO.

I have an aftermarket universal exhaust married to a custom B pipe. My fear was having my maxima sound like a civic, but to my surprise, it had a deep deep throttle sound. very impressive. I guess the V6 is starting to flex its muscles on my gle

Not sure if you guys have heard of this brand but it is called Pilot. The tip is about 4 inches but the whole canister is quite large. I would post up pics, but I just got it put on sunday and I haven't taken pics yet. I'll post some when i take them.

It looks pretty good IMO, not sure about the overall quality though

I have a 97 GLE that I am thinking about replacing the muffler. Were there any fitment issues when you had your installed or did it fit just right? My muffler and pipes are all stock, but I am looking for an improved sound on the stock muffler. Extra HP would be nice too.

I got a 3A racing muffler and it sounds good to 3k then it dies off to be inaudible. Intake def drowns out muff. noise.

Well the job i did is actually a custom axle-back. I have a friend and his dad owns a shop with a welder so We were able to add the piping that I got from NAPA and weld those together to build an axle-back. With the axle-back, i notice that it pull very hard at higher RPM's. There wasn't any fitment issues just make sure that you measure the priping right and then just cut off the piping from the axle to the muffler, and weld on ALL THE PIPES. Then just bolt it back on. But, i did have to get one new hanger.

i hate to admit this because i'm a honda hater( i would not by a car from a company who also makes WEEDEATERS!) but some of the dohc motors sound decent(nothing like a good old sr20de) when coupled with the right exhaust. it's those ricers with no resonator and a canister that sound like poo, although they give me a good laugh every once in a while.

I have a Ypipe, and B pipe w/ resonator, and a Borla Pro/XS muffler, sounds awesome, not too loud, and no drone whatsoever...
