Variable-Length Intake Runner Kit

I'm considering a Variable-Intake Runner Length Manifold Kit for my 99 Maxima (otherwise stock VQ30DE engine). I've been trying unsuccessfully to get more info about the kit (detailed specs, etc.) but to no avail so far. The kit is offered by a Texas dealer called Courtesy Nissan's Web site, but they have no additional info. Supposedly it's a genuine Nissan part, but not offered in the US. I've been looking on the NISMO site and some others that list non-US parts but haven't even found it listed.

Anyone have any insights? Know where I can get the specs I need to decide if I should buy it.

Here's a link to the listing on Courtesy's site:

BTW, MEVI = Middle Eastern Variable Intake. Search will go a long way on those four letters.

Do 2 things. It's actually called a MEVI (Middle Eastern Variable Intake)
There is a Sticky at the top of the 4th gen Forum named "MEVI FAQ" go there, if you still need more help do a search, and if you still don't find your answer come back and ask again.

I don't know if it's only in the middle east but I know the 4th gens here are not sold here with a VI. The US maximas only have the US Intake Manifold. Which is what you see under your hood.

We first learned about it from a guy who lived in the hence it got the name Middle East Variable Intake. Other VQ motors have it, but not VQ 30s and certainly not in the USA. VQ25s, VQ20s, in New Zealand, etc have them but they have ports that are round rather than elliptical and will not work on a US spec VQ30DE. Only the ones from the middle east are known to work and are stamped with 38U.

Hacim105: Whats under my hood? *looks* Nope.. =P Not USDM Intake Manifold under my hood. =P

Neal: So the 38U is only sold in the Middle East huh? I guess its a good reason to call it the MEVI then. It was bothering me that it was being called the MEVI because I was thinking it was sold in japan and other markets also.

As far as I know the 38U VQ30 manifold was only available on cars in the middle east market. Maybe they have them on Guam or in Siberia or something too but I don't think we have any members there to check

What's disturbing is that even Courtesy is calling the MEVI and "variable length runner" setup. It's not variable length, it's resonance tuned.

Oh and the MEVI with a JWT ECU is

Courtesy is one of the best Nissan dealerships available. Gotta love their discount...especially if you're in DNE.
