acceleration...wtf?

Ok, I have read a lot of the threads posted on problems with acceleration. My problem is very similar to the people who have bad KS...but I just checked my ecu and I am getting 05 05 (nothing).
I have a 98 five speed with: injen CAI/cattman y-pipe/Greddy cat-back/venom 400. I have cleaned the TB, and I just added a can of BG 44K (which may have helped some but it is probably in my head). When I hit the gas my car feels very sluggish off the line then it takes of around 3grand. But sometimes it will feel sluggish all the way though the power band...wtf? I need to check my coil packs and I also have never replaced the fuel filter since I have owned the car (I bought it with 90K and now I have 113K on it. Any suggestions...its very annoying.

if you have never replaced the fuel filter and dont know if it has never been replaced then i would start with that. if the coils were bad then that would trip a cel. i would start by replacing the fuel filter and pulling the plugs and checking their condition to see how the motor is running.

I have the same problem, except mine is bone stock and automatic. I have checked the spark plugs and the tips look fine and have replaced the fuel filter and just changed the knock sensor which I thought was going to fix it (got 03 04 ecu code), but now I get (05 05) showing nothing wrong. Mine is the same way-dead until about 3k and then surges. I have noticed that response is much better before its fully warmed up.

Any suggestions to help us out would be appreciated!

Fuel filter needs changed every 60k I think so you are WAY overdue for that. But if it takes off and pulls strong sometimes and other times it doesn't then your knock sensor is probably going bad. Mine was intermittent for a month or two before it went completely bad.

the first thing you should do is take that pish of **** venom 400 off your car and make sure you run decent octane fuel. Then tell us how your car feels.

Well, venom aside-I am bone stock and have exactly same problem as mentioned by cardana24. And Im sure he doesnt abuse car before its warmed up and neither do I but both have noticed that it is definitely more responsive before reaching normal operating temperature.

Do a full tune-up, clean TB & IACV, clean the 2 bolts ( http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/507 last step), run 91+ octane, try changing O2 sensors if you're near the 100k mile area, and check tire pressure!!! Might be your fuel injectors
