front strut mount bearing question

do I have to remove the strut in order to replace the strut mounting bearing? or can I remove the top strut nut and raise the car up so the strut is under the strut assembly and just slide it over? here is a link to what the strut mount bearing is:
its number 4 for 95-99 maxima:

You have to take out the whole thing and compress the spring. Then take out the center nut and take out the upper strut mount and replace the bearing.

Give me your email and I can email you a pic of it.
