Can your battery affect gas milage?
I know this sounds like a completely stupid question, but i've seen some posts on the org claiming that a new battery has improved gas milage. I guess in theory less strain on the electrical system can improve gas milage. I understand that once the car is started the battery does not do all that much, but there is still a load on the battery in certain situations. What do you guys think??? Also what is the recomended amount fo cranking amps for our cars
i have a brand new stinger power Battery 1700CA...huge battery 13 inches wide..i didnt really notice any improvements in gas milage...
but i dynoed it and got about 300 HP gain from the battery..and im thinking about dropping a old sentra engine in my Max..cause its lighter and it will make my car go faster...

Realistically though, let's say that the battery weighs 50lbs. If you were to remove that, and replace it with a 25lb battery, you're only taking 25lbs off, how much can 25lbs affect gas mileage?
I can understand the MPG being affected if you're carrying a husky family of 4 and all their luggage, but 25lbs? And what if there's only 2-3lb difference between the two, does that account for 2-3 extra miles?
And if that's so, does that mean if i lose weight i'll get better gas mileage?

enough with the sarcasim already, im asking a legitiment question. Can running a battery without enough cranking amps reduce gas milage in any way? People have said it before, is there any validity to it
