Is the 97-99 gauge cluster compatible with 95-96??

My odometer just died, so I am looking to replace the whole gauge cluster. Can I buy a 97-99 cluster and put it in my 96? I prefer a digital odometer.

97 = 95 - 96
98 - 99 <> 95 - 97

Now I had thought that the 95-97 clusters had two openings in the speedometer: one for the main odometer & one for the trip. I know in my 99 I've got one opening for the digital odometer & a small square opening for the ABS warning light. That was the main reason I couldn't buy indiglos for 95-97 models to fit my 99.

Maybe someone else could expound further...
