Dashboard paint!

Hey everyone, I use to be a 3rd gen. maxima owner, but I have moved up from a 91 to a 95, I'm trying to start to trick out my ride, starting with the interior. But the dashboard is dark chocolate brown, while the rest of the car is tan, I need your all's advice, what is the best dashboard paint brand to use to make it match the rest of the car? I want it to be tan, so that the wood trim would stand out a little more, and make it look fancy. What do you guys recommend? The car exterior is pearl white. Thanks a million. Raul

I did it and it looks great! Also, its a special paint that soaks into vynil (spelling) I got it from SEM and it's called colorcoat. My dash was tan and now its black to match the black interior I installed.

I'd get a new dash instead of paint. Much more durable. The SEM Colorcoat is a flexible coating, not a dye. One problem you may have with it is when you apply dressings, they may streak and leave the dash looking blotchy from it absorbing the dressing unevenly. It will also be susceptible to scratches more than a factory dash. And if you don't get all of the previous dressings out of the dash when you paint it, it won't adhere properly. Have you ever tried getting years worth of silicone based dressings out of vinyl?
I've used SEM Colorcoat on a '78 Camaro's dash. Looked alright, but not as good as factory. I have some SEM's for small things in my wife's truck (vent trim, door handle trim), but wouldn't use it over an entire dash again. Getting it perfect just isn't worth the hassle in my opinion.
Not meaning to jack your thread, but does anyone have a definitive answer to removing the passenger airbag cover? Is it part of the airbag assembly, the dash, or a separate piece? (NISMOMAXMAN, when you remove your dash, can you fill me in on this?) Mine is faded/discolored, and needs replaced.

Dave
