Fuel Injector Replacement...OEM vs. Venom

My '95 Max SE has 110k on it and I've dropped two injectors (bad coils) over the last 4 months. The second one just dropped. When the first one dropped, I didn't have the $$$ to replace the whole set, so I'm going to replace the whole set.

OEM are about $750 for the set. Summit Racing has a set of Venom Injectors for about $550 - apparently they flow about 5% more than the OEM.

Has any one tried these in a Max? Any problems, other than slightly decreased fuel mileage?

Will the 'puter adjust the injector timing to account for the 5% higher fuel flow rate?

Thanks!

#1 - They're for 3rd Gens

#2 - Bad coils aren't bad injectors. They're bad coil packs. Different things.

No...There is a coil in the injector too. It's not the coil pack.

It's the injector itself...the inductive coil in the injector is an electrical open therefore the coil is shot...

Also a no on the 3rd Gens...There are injectors for 4th gens listed too...

Sorry, I misunderstood then.

The ECU may be able to handle 5% extra flow. You may be better off buying a used set of stock injectors. I'm sure they can be had for cheep, and you know the ECU can handle them.

I ordered the Venom Injectors from Summit. UPS to deliver today. Plan to install tonight. Keep your fingers crossed!!! If they don't work, Summit said that I could return them.

Keep you posted!

I've had the injectors in for about a week now. They dropped right in...no problem with that.

They do seem to flow more, but I'll confirm on my next few tankfuls of gas.

Two other observations...

1. seems to idle a little lower

2. See to be turning lower rpms at high speeds. Before at 70 mph in 5th gear I was at 3k rpm...now I'm at 2.8k rpm at 70...

only thing i can figure is it's due to more fuel per stroke.

So far, i'm happy with the venom injectors. worst part is getting upper intake manifold off.

i haven't g-tech'd it, but it "feels" faster

Glad to hear that they work. However, they won't effect engine RPM at speed. That's a mechanical ration between the engine, tranny and tires. Fuel won't change that.

Gas mileage has dropped slightly...went from 26ish mpg to 25ish mpg
