stock fog light w/o head lights on
#2
I did mine on my 98 SE, was real easy. Just gotta change the input voltage on the fog light relay from headlight source to some other source (I put mine on my parking lights, you can also either choose a constant or ignition-switched 12v source).
I wrote up a real nice post on how to do this on Maximaforum.com complete with pictures, but that site is now gone. Bummer.
Fog light relay is in the box under the hood attached to the inside of the passenger-side fender. I think the cover even says "fog relay" on it. Once you find that, figure out which lead gets powered when your headlights come on. Get under the connector, snip that wire, then splice in an alternate voltage source. Parking light 12v is my reccomendation.
Well damm... looked through my online directory, I still have those pics. Here's some pointers.
The cover you have to remove: (note "FR FOG LAMP" is top-right)
The clip that lets you remove the relay:
The connector after you remove the relay (I numbered them to explain what each wire went to... I forget what is what now. Just figure out which turns on +12v with the headlights)
The clip that makes it possible to remove the connector from the box:
Lemme know if you need more info. My other AIM name is "the88escalade". I'm on there most of the day while at work.

I followed the instructions posted by SprintMax and it works!!...but does this mean that the fogs are now taking power from the parklights and will I be able to do the corner rewire also w/o drawing too much current?

No, I want the fogs to come one with at least the corner lights on. As for have the fogs come on w/o corner lights...yes it can be done...if you touch the wire you connected from the relay to the positive terminal of the battery, the fogs will be independent of the corner n head lights.
