I know this is a common problem, and I want to make sure that I am not trashing my engine:

On cold mornings, when I start up my 95 Max I get alot of valve train tapping/noise for about 1-2 seconds. I have seen the postings that indicate that it is usually the check valve in the oil filter that is causing this, so I changed the oil filter from the STP brand to a PureOne (Purolator) filter. I also switched from Valvoline Full Synthetic to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. This started happening after our trip to Colorado (about 2500 mile round-trip), when I put a can of BG44K fuel injector cleaner through. The only thing I can figure is that the cleaner partially plugged an oil jetway somewhere.

Any thoughts?

Try using a Nissan oil filter next time, or Wix filters. I use the Wix filters mostly, have no problems with 10W30 synthetic. Make sure the filter has an anti-drainback valve. Also, the purolator pure one filter has an up and down side, the up side is that they've got a whole lot of filter media, therefore they do a really good job of cleaning your oil. But, the downside is that they might be a bit too restrictive as a result of all the media, causing oil starvation to the engine, like under hi rpm. There have been some reported issues of that. Hope thsi helps.
