Rear License Plate

Hi all, I just bought a '95 Maxima SE. First car, too. What I'm having trouble with is getting the rear license plate off so I can get mine on. Seems to be just a nut and bolt, but getting at the nut behind is quite difficult and I can't quite get at it. Is there any easy way to do this?

It might be rusted together. If that's the case, you might have to drill through or take it to a shop and let them drill it.

The frigging thing that the nut screws into starts turning back there and makes it pretty much impossible to get off since there's ****NO**** access to the back of that thing. I have needed to put a new license plate frame on for some time, but have the same problem. I believe the answer is to remove the rear bumper...the plastic part not the substantive part...I am hopeful that this is all that needs to be done.

I am going to try it but I need new plastic clips since they all break whenever you try to remove them.

I had the same problem with my license plate...one of the screws was rusted onto the nut, and that SOB would not budge! After some serious pullin' & tuggin' I ended up ripping out the small piece of plastic (bumper) that held the screw & nut. I had to buy a license plate holder that had 4 screws instead of the usual 2 at the top, just to make sure the darn plate would be secure.

Not the best method, but if the screw won't give, you might have to go caveman style.
