Just got my Y pipe........

I got my in yesterday, and installed it. Thanks to JDMMAX for the install.
We got it all installed, and ran into some trouble. There was a small shield that we to remove in order to install the Y. It was preventing us from putting in the rear O2 sensor that shield was in the way. So I was like fukk it take the shield off. We had the y pipe all installed, so I start the car, and that shiet is freaking LOUD at idle. The exhaust note went from a subtle tone to an annoying gurgle sound. And it was loud. I was like *** I’m going to get a ticket form this ish. Then JDMMAX and I went for a test drive and the car felt slightly faster, like when you add an intake. I really didn't notice the power increase, but I was like whatever... It should help out when I add some more nitrous. Also my exhaust smelled funny, I don’t know why. I guess it's time to do some research on the BLITZ TT Realize exhaust, because I'm going to need it.

The smell is normal, its just the dirt and oils burning off from inside the Y pipe, so dont worry about it. I thought the Y pipe was loud at first too, but I'm used to it now and it seems quiet to me, except at WOT. I didnt notice the power increase either, but it's there.

did u use the gasket from OEM? check those 2 14mm bolts where you connect to the cat... make sure those are tight.

wat company did you get it? i got mine from budget and it smelled a bit when i first drove it, cuz they "polished" the y-pipe. i suppose they melt afterwards

Nope, had them all fixed.

I have Y pipe, stock cat, 2.5" piping all the way to the muffler (apexi N1) and no resonator.

u will feel more power increase after a week or two, at least i did, the smell is normal, but if its loud enough to get a ticket, you DO have a leak somewhere, mine is no where near loud at idle

ahhhhh nvm, i see why its so loud, the y pipe frees up alot of the resonance that the stock y holds back, so now ur getting alot more sound through to the exhaust system, only way to quiet it down is resonators

yea, where is the loud coming from? Mine was louder at idle- just a nice rumble to the exhaust, plus the stillen muffler.

It's the damn cannister muffler. The thing is too small to quiet down the flow...

I have 3(!) resonators (22", 18" and 12")... 2 are Magnaflows and the other is one of the original GReddy ones.

it took awhile for me to feel the power gains from the ypipe. I'd say about a week or two as well. But hey Al, if you thought your pipe is loud now u shoulda heard mine when I didn't plug the extra 02 sensor hole.

Don't worry though afterawhile the butt dyno will start to feel happy.
