turn signal not working

1995 GLE
Left front turn signal goes out. Turn signal clicks and flashes really fast, only when used to the left, works fine when used for the right. Suspect a bulb, yes the bulb is blown. (left front) Change the bulb, still have the same problem. Check all the fuses, they are fine. Any suggestions? I have heard that it might be the turn signal unit, but if that were the case would it only fail on the left front, while the other three still work fine?

Thanks
Steve

Usually when it flashes really fast, it means that there is a problem with a ground. I think thats how Honduh owners get there turn signals to flash fast.
