Why don't

you guys just pop for a Cattman S/S pipe....it'll last ALOT longer than that mild steel stillen crap...plus the reason that Brian Catts stopped using the ceramic coating and making the 'jet-hot" pipes was beucase off the problems with them. I'd just say pop for the extra 100 bucks and get a REALLY good pipe...that is acually in stock. I did and I couldn't be happier...and I'm a college students...not exactly making a fortune right now...just my 2 cents

Didnt mean to sound like a punk, my bad. Juss wanted to clarify. All turbo's whether on a Max, MX6, Supra or Z basically sounds the same. Might be louder or quieter. They all make the classic spooling noise... Your prolly confusing the hiss with something else, maybe an exhaust leak? heeh

So he qouted you $249 just for the flex pipe than? So how much was he going to charge you for the rest of the piping.

i've had my new stillen y-pipe for about a month and half now.
it doesn't make that bees-in-a-can sound. in fact, it's soooooo quiet, people don't believe me when i say i have a stillen y-pipe!!
i did have problems with fitment issues...

oh, yeah, stillen will not support u in any other way than a part exchange under warranty. they will not do any y-pipe installation. they'll just tell u to go to a near-by-muffler shop and get it done...

What about.......

What about a CATTMAN group deal? Can we get enough to hook up the $300 for a CATTMAN if it's the best one?

A Cattman Y costs approximately $450. We would need about a 100-150 peeps for them to even think about it...unless someone on this forum is good enough friends with the Catt-man himself to sweet talk him for the Maxima fam

Yo madman, how can you say that they are the same except price??? The only way your statement could be true is if all three companies bought the y-pipe from a single manufacturer....and they don't. They all produce their own.

WarpSpeed Y-pipe

I have been watching this thread for several days now and I know Dallas probably will think I shouldn't post, just let you guys talk and talk.We realize we are the new kids on the block, and people are watching. We believe our y is the best bang for your buck out there. Call Stillen and ask to talk with one of the owners of the company. Our customers service is second to none. If you do a search for post regarding our y-pipes with names like: Matt93GXE, BigTexan7, AKAICEBERG, Kaleb at Courtesy Nissan, and others you will see what they say about our stuff. I don't believe in knocking the competition. Each pipe has their merits. Ours just happpens to be the best value and probably the best fitting. Some people want a work of art or need a pipe for a show car, if that's you, buy the Cattman SS. Our 409SS is not showy but will last longer than the rest of the exhaust system, and won't have the cracking problems like 304SS is know for. BTY we are making a new version of the 4th gen pipe, 3" plenum, flex section and 3" pipe back to the Cat. We also offer a 3" Carsound cat as well. If you Max is supercharged or has a turbo, this is your pipe. Please watch for our new web site, Jonathan NG (member) is designing it for us. Thanks Dan WSP

Deals off....

Get this BS...

My contact got back to me today. He said that the sales manager wouldn't even budge on the price. Even if we had 30-50, he wanted to sell it for the same going price. WTF?!?!

If you follow this thread you see that coming so don't be surprised.

The Warpspeed pipe is 355 in 409 SS and appears to be the best on for your hard earned money. I will probably get one eventually myself.

Dan, what about the comment you made regarding a change to the transition piece on another thread or did I misunderstand that?

y-pipe

We haven't had to do alot of changes on the VQ version. The VG is another story, those worn out motor mounts are a rear fitmant nightmare. You might be aluding to the thread I posted about us attempting to make a 3" y-pipe. We haven't had to change the plenum on this pipe. Thanks again for considering us. BTW we still have a few of the 409SS currently in stock. We ran through a batch of the Aluminized, running more this week. Dan WSP

Last year Cattman did a group deal on his SS y-pipes, why not try it again? I think they were like $400.
Also, if you guys want stillen why not try going through Phoung (got rice?), he's an authorized stillen dealer.
I'm in for either pipe, if it's a decent price.

I didn't have to barter too hard, but I did have to beat him down from $345 list.
Dean said that there were 17 on "pre-order", and that they should ship in about a week.
I'm in no hurry....If it shows up in three weeks I'll be OK with that.

Peace!

new at this

Ok guys, I am fairly new at all this. Don't have my Max for too long.
Can someone explain to me precisely what a Y pipe is.
How does it work or whatever.
I want to start making performace mods to my car, and I can see that a Y Pipe adds about 10HP. Is it loud? Will it fit a 98 SE 5spd? Any special adjustments/mods needed for it?
Does it come with an exhaust or is that separately?

Thanx for all the help.

Re: new at this

Riot^,
The intake (cold or cone) is the most HP for your buck (around 6HP for $100-250). However, the y-pipe gives the most HP aside from a supercharger or ECU upgrade. I can't wait to buy my y-pipe...still trying to get some kind of group deal going. Enjoy your new MAX!!!

BrokenMotor - That's a good question. I would call Stillen to see if they would consider the trade in. They might give you a serious discount.

Mad Jap - Preshiate the info.

This thread has turned into mental master u know what.

If you have a bad pipe from stealen, you should get them to change out the flez connector, I beleive that's what people have said causes the bees in the can noise.

I emailed Brian Catts and this is what he said:

"Bryan,

not a bad idea in concept, but the timing isn't quite right. I can't do anything too ambitious or time-intensive on top of what I've got going right now because I'm going to be out of the country for a while in a month, and my production capacity is tied up with some other things right

I also got bad news from GotRice. Apparently, Stillen is extremely strict on pricing (group deal or not).

I just got off the phone with a guy at Stillen. He (who asked not to be named) said that he would try to do it $300 plus shipping. If I would get approximately 15 ppl together and confirmed.

He said something about getting in trouble, but that he was planning on quiting next month anyway.

All of you that are seriously interested MUST reply to this thread ASAP.

Thanks

Aren't you the same guy that replied with a "yes" to the group deal a couple of replies ago?

Anyway (for the rest of you viewers), right now just a Yes will do. Once we get enough people, I will supply the guys (and girls) that give me the YES the salesman's direct extension. This way you supply all of the personal information directly to Stillen.

Thanks.
