What are signs of a failing clutch?

Lately I have been hearing this noise come from the front driver side of the car. It sounds somewhat like something is rattling. Like something getting knocked back and forth. I put my car on stands started it to see if I could see the problem but no luck. So I was sure that it had to be something internal. Previously the sound was not happening in idle but now it is. I feel it has to do with the clutch because when I put the pedal in the noise stops. I let go of the clutc and the noise starts again. I asked my brother and he said it could be the throw out bearing. Can I get any feedback from you all? How urgent is it for a new throw out bearing?

I thought about getting an ACT but I don't want the clutch pulling so hard everytime it engages. I will probably just get a new OEM clutch. Hopefully it is only the throw out bearing and getting the new clutch kit will fix it.

stick with oem . Nothing wrong with the OEM clutch, especially when youre already used to it.

A new clutch kit should include a new throwout bearing. If that's the problem, good. I had a noise from the same area and when I had a new clutch kit installed, the noise was still there. Turns out it was the input shaft bearing inside the tranny. It went bad because I had an axle seal leak. For your own good you should check your tranny fluid level every couple months. I was told that I had about 1/3 the amount of fluid that should have been in the tranny. The tranny rebuild cost me $1100 for all new bearings, seals, and a new gear.(one of the teeth were missing?)

That would suck if that's the problem, that's a lot of money. Oh man I hope it's just the throw out bearing. But now I'll have to go check my tranny fluid level. Hopefully it's at the right level and there are no leaks. Now I'm worried, this sucks.

If you do end up getting a new clutch, and your NOT boosted, or spraying nitrous, stick with an OEM.

Oh, as for ACT/EXedy clutches engaging so hard, thats pretty much not true. At least not for my car, i dunno if people dont let them break in enough, or are installed wrong, but mine grabs like a stock clutch with ever ever so slight chatter (only if im not applying gas when i release the clutch). Around town it feels like a stock clutch, until you wanna switch gears crazily, then you know its not stock...
