How in the heck?!
I had a thread earlier about my problem of my car not passing smog. Told by the SMOG pro guy the 1st time that I needed a new cat converter. okay, so I ordered a metallic substrate cat from warpspeed performance and put a rush delivery on it. Installed the new cat yesterday and went back to the smog place this morning and not only did it FAIL AGAIN but the numbers came out WORSE!!! Whats going on here!? It failed the same thing "NO (PPM)" at a 15MPH roll. My numbers was in the 900s this time and 400s is the max. The 1st time i tested it was in the 700s. Hmmm so I did what they told me to do to fix it the 1st time but it still didnt work! I asked them why it didnt pass again and they were pretty much clueless as well. Saying maybe "its the wrong cat" or its not a "3-way cat"
Well im very desperate right now and would appreciate any advice on what I should do. The deadline for the smog certificate is on FRIDAY
excuse me while i go vent...

well for the 1st test i drove around for abotu 30 min before just around the streets and on the freeway a little bit. The 2nd time, I figured the new metallic substrate will take less time to warm up as warpspeed stated on their site so i just let the car idle for a couple minutes before leaving my house and just drove straight to the smog place. The gauge showed that the car was wamred up though. SHould I have drove the car around for a while before the inspection?

nismos hit the key factor in this: warming the cat up. take a highway run for a while and then try. btw this sounds wierd but sometimes a new cat will be worse( for a little bit) because of all of the particles are not being trapped as well as they were on the old one.

DpG $h0rTeE - I told you in your first thread that you needed to clean your throttle body and change the spark plugs. Your engine is not running clean. Stop messing with the cat, give the car a mini tune up, it's much cheaper and easier then replacing the cat, and you'll pass emissions.
Your car should pass emissions with aftermarket exhaust equipment on it as long as the engine is runnig well. Your's aparantly isn't -Tune it up!
