for safety you may as well. i also read somewhere that if the car has been sitting for a while (overnight ideally) than there is little pressure in there. i didn't pull the fuse and the car was only sitting a couple hours when i did mine. not much fuel spilled at all. the filter will be full though so have a pleace to poor it out.
