is this true or is it bs?

i just got a deal for 150 bux to have my suspention installed. but the mechanic said tthat it woulda been cheaper and faster if the backseats werent in the way. he said that he has to remove the backseats to be able to remove the springs and shocks. is that bs or is it true?

Back seats do not have to come out to do the suspension install. It does however make it easier to reach the strut mounts. You can do it without though, just have to climb into the trunk. You can look in the trunk and see where the strut mounts are.

If you dont tend to do it yourself, 150.00 doesnt seem to bad. 100.00 sounds better. Its not really a hard job but time consuming.

i just un-installed my shocks off of my car if you want them. (by the way, i didn't remove my back seat) the struts i have are Kyb Agx. let me know if you are intrested.

but buying used is not a problem at all, good shocks last for a very long time... about 80k miles or so. besides, you can get a nice price cut on them!

The price is right, but the mechanic is an idiot, especially if he did the job from inside the car with the seatback removed. Thats a tough angle to work with, going from the trunk gives you a straight shot to the rear upper mounts. Going from inside the car is like working around a corner. Pretty dumb actually and it's more work.

Next time your in your trunk, pull down the back trunk lining (2 clips up top twards the center) and look in the corners.

What if you have a pair of 12" in the way and you have to take out the back seats any way to get the box out.
