What is really the diff between a cone airfilter and an intake?? why is the $$$ diff so much?? stillen on their site sells a K&N Cone Air Filter for $40. and the Intake system consisting of that filter for 200 whats teh deal?
right now my friend gave me his old supposedly "intake". as far as i can tell, itx the cone filter, the metal bracket and the ring holding the bracket to the filter. Is that an intake? and if so, can i buy the K&N cone, and use the adapter from this one?? a pic of my intake now is at

a cone filter is just the filter. An intake kit is a kit that consists of all mounting hardware.

There is now a specially made hose to fit over the end of the pod so that you can duct it to get air from outside the engine bay. At $25 this is a bargain compared to to the CAI kit.

An 'intake' also has a velocity stack.....it has a rounded smooth look and mounts onto the MAF.....that is also an agent that helps up the price. I think the vacuum hose thing os the best of em all......and prolly the cheapest.
