i just bought 6'by 9' rear speakers. they are really good (JBL 250 watts each for a real cheap price) However, in my '95maxima, the speaker holes in the back are round. is there any hope for me, or do i have to **** up my car and cut?

well maxima's in the front and rear are 6 1/2S i believe... so you can't put them in the stock hole... u can probably do custom work but i don't know anything about that. good luck

Its a PAIN

I put eclipse 6x9's in and it isn't fun. I relocated the 6.5's to the rear doors. I suggest putting the 6x9's in the rear doors if your magnets aren't to big, and leavin the 5's in the deck. Its alot easier. Its sheet metal up there and its tight working from inside the damn trunk. I actually let my 10 year old neighbor get in the trunk and finish one of the cuts for me cause my back hurt.( His mother woulda killed me if she saw!)
Good luck.

Letting a 10 year old cut holes in a car trunk? Took me like two minutes to stop laughing. Thanks.

There is Hope for You

I had the same type of situation.
My friend had just bought this dope pair of MB Quart compenents and subs, and 2 nice clarion power amps. Let me take them off of his hands for $200, which is ridicoulsly cheap for those of you not familar (due to a car accident he couldn't afford them). Anyhow, I wanted the 6x9's installed on the rear deck, so I took them to my local car stereo place, made sure the had an Air Gun, which will cut through metal easily and had them installed. Cost about $20 bucks since I knew the guy. You should be able to get it done for about $40. . .
Good Luck

6 3/4

The front and rear speakers are actuall 6 3/4, not 6 1/2, for a 95 Maxima. I bought 6 1/2 speakers thinking they would fit, but they're too small. I had to buy some adapters for them.

My local stereo shop fabricated a pair of baffle type spacers and bolted them thru the rear deck. This provided clearance for the speaker and I was able to retain the stealth look of the factory grills. the shop also siliconed the surrounding area of the baffles to seal any air movement. The installer built these out of 3/4 MDF and painted them to match the car. Sweet install, for $50.

i just got some spacers that mount the 6x9's higher so that only the magnet drops into the factory hole. not stealty but the spacers only cost a buck each.

Well I have 95 max with alpine 6 1/2 up front and alpine 6x9's in the rear deck. I took my car to an car audio shop and had them cut the 6 1/2 inch holes that were in the rear to fit the 6x9's and I think they charged me about $30 or $40 dollors and they fit flush on the deck with the grills on top.
