Dash glow gauges install - sticking needles
Dash glow gauges install - sticking needles HELP!
Hey guys, i installed my reverse glow (alfaotto/procarparts) gauges last night and used Scotch removable double sided tape around the spindles and edges for all gauges, and the Tach and Speedo were sticking like crazy.
What really ****es me off is that until i snapped the black bezel in place the needles turned easily on their own, pushing and allowing to slide back into place resulted in no sticking.
Is there anything i can do? to help gauges not stick? i thought of trying to shave/sand the bottom of the needle's black spindle thing, but was worried i might break them trying to get under them. Or that i would uncalibrate the ref positions trying to remove them.
The reverse glow worked flawlessly, but i can t have the tach and speedo sticking all the time.
Thanks for the help

The best I can say it take em off, and re-tape....it does take quite a bit of patience to do them... I ended up having to take my dash apart like 8 times because they'd be fine before I put the dash together and then as soon as I'd start putting it back they'd start to stick.
Just make sure you tape anything that might or could flop forward to contact the base of the needles. And like you said, you could also try to sand the base down wherever it's contacting. If worse comes to worse, I have seen guys take their needles off and take the stock gagues out and just place the overlays in.....I wouldn't attempt that because one thing I was told before I put mine in is NEVER TAKE THE NEEDLES OFF.....but it's up to you...hope this helps...
Also depending on your indiglos you might be able to punch holes through them in the place where the stock screws were and secure them with the stock screws. Might help.....

I will probably punch holes an dput the screws back in after making sure to remove any metal that might short out... I think that or sanding down the bottom of the black spindle thing should work, and believe me i taped the poop out the suckers 2 times, took my time and they still stuck when the black bezel was reapplied, i may ulimately remove the needles and stock faces if i can find reliable method of marking needle positions so i dont screw up the calibration.
